| Indoor bonsai bookThis book tell about shaping and creating, planting and repotting, creating your own indoor bonsai, the tools you will need, pruning, cutting, and trimming, how to wire or bend the branches and all of those necessary things to make a tree or plant into a bonsai. Because of its size 5X7 it is not as easy to use as the larger bonsai books. This book is totally devoted to indoor bonsais and there are not many books on indoor bonsais.
An indoor bonsai does not mean that it lives indoors all year. All bonsais grow better if they are outside as long as your area will permit. An indoor bonsai is one that can live in the house during the winter without a dramatic set back. Outdoor bonsais on the other hand must spend the winter out doors. If you try to keep them in the house for the winter they will eventually die. Most bonsai books include many of the indoor bonsais, but they don't label them as indoor bonsais and they don't tell you how to keep them thriving in the house for the winter.
In this book there are 27 indoor bonsais that are presented in a two-page format. There is a beautiful picture of each bonsai. There is general information about the bonsai; it's origin, size, flower and fruit information, and other interesting information about this bonsai. It also has the following sections: Site, Watering, Feeding, Repotting, Soil, Pruning, Wiring and Propagation.
In the back of this book there is a section listing many more plants and trees that can be made into indoor bonsais with a paragraph on each of them.
This book has a lot of good information. It is printed on very good quality paper and is very tightly bound. It is because of this that it is hard to keep open which makes it a little hard to read and that is the only thing I don't like about this book. "Bonsai In Your Home" is a large book by the same author and is written in the same style. It has more bonsais described in detail, but it doesn't have any of the short descriptions.

| Best SAT Prep BookThis book really deserves more recognition than it has. None of my friends had ever seen this book, but I saw the reviews here and decided to get it anyway. I looked through it and simply didn't have enough time to study for the SATs as much as I would have liked, but I think if I were to do it all again, the number one thing I would have changed in my studying would have been to go through this entire book, maybe even twice. I got a 2160, which is okay, but really if I took the time to study the word list (which surpasses any other prep book BY FAR), I'm pretty sure my CR score would have gone up.
If you are a sophomore and are about to be a junior, or a junior who is getting prepared to take the SAT senior year, I recommend doing this entire book over the summer. Then the first month of school go through this book again and get all those vocab words in your head. I didn't study any vocab and I regret it. Everyone I talked to said that because the 2400 SAT doesn't have analogies, vocab wasn't as essential. I think vocab is still important for fill in the blank sections obviously, but also for the passage-reading sections. If you don't know a word in a sentence it really affects you and you just guess on the meaning, which you shouldn't be doing. The vocab list is definitely the highlight of this book.
Another great part of this book is the math section. It teaches you how to do all those math problems by thinking rather than memorizing. My math score went up about 60 points after doing about half of the math section in this book. Again, if I had more time to thoroughly go through this book I think my score would have gone up, and that goes for everyone willing to put the time into it.
This book is thick, and may be a bit much for people who are less serious about the SAT, but if you set up a strict schedule, and study this book, I'm sure it would help. I only went through a little vocab and half the math and even that helped me a lot. I didn't look at the Writing section quite as much so I don't have much to say about that, but the other sections would more than make up for it if it wasn't that good. So, get this book if you are willing to put in some serious hours. Don't get lazy!

"SAT Practice" is the most funny, interesting and useful language and grammer book that I've ever seen! (In our house it is read just for fun.)
In each chapter a silly and clever story includes short definitions of the advanced words in the margins, and then a glossary section. A quiz follows to check for comprehension. Every chapter then has a section discussing a difficult area of the English language, with the most crystal-clear examples that I've found anywhere. Following is our families' favorite part -- the "Projects" section. These are interesting, clever, silly ... well, here's an example:
"Devise, define, and describe three parlor games, annoying practical jokes, or decorative mobiles involving paper clips, drier lint, feathers, and/or linguini. Use lists, making sure all constructs are parallel."
Even if you plan never to take the SAT, this book is worth having around for the fun -- and learning -- of it. I wish that I could buy one for each of my friends and family members!
